Ring Doughnuts
For Doughnuts
2 cups Golden Cloud Cake Wheat Flour
½ cup Sugar
1 tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp Salt
½ cup Milk
50g Butter
2 tbsp Oil
For Frying
Oil for deep frying
For Toppings
Sugar and Cinnamon powder for dusting or toppings off your choice.
Method
Step 1: Melt the butter and then add in the oil and milk and mix well.
Step 2: In a separate bowl, sift in the flour and baking powder and stir in the sugar and salt.
Step 3: Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the milk and butter mix.
Step 4: Using a spoon, mix the wet and dry ingredients together. If the dough is too sticky, add another tablespoon of flour. Do not knead the dough.
Step 5: Turn out the dough onto a floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to about a 12mm thickness and cut out circles using a doughnut or cookie cutter.
Step 6: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat up oil to deep fry the doughnuts. Fry a little bit of dough in the oil to test if it’s hot enough. You will know the oil is ready when the dough turns a golden brown and floats to the top. Carefully drop the doughnuts into the oil. Allow the doughnuts to fry for approximately 3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
Step 7: Transfer the cooked doughnuts onto a plate lined with paper towels.
Step 8: Sprinkle doughnuts with sugar and cinnamon powder, or add your own favourite toppings.
